 Sustainability As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and EPA Energy Star, Highwoods Properties is committed to reducing the consumption of valuable natural resources in all of our operations. We are focused on developing and operating more energy-efficient buildings throughout our portfolio and, when warranted, applying for LEED and ENERGY STAR® certifications. A few examples of recent energy-saving improvements include lighting upgrades (more energy-efficient bulbs and ballasts), selective use of motion-detected lighting, and installing variable-speed HVAC drives.
