Highwoods initiated the college co-op program in collaboration with our Energy Management Department in 2013. Currently under the leadership of Steve Dixon, this program provides aspiring engineering students with a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of energy engineering and sustainability within the industry. Furthermore, it equips them with valuable insights into various business principles and the real estate and customer service dynamics in which Highwoods operates. Within this program, co-op participants actively engage with energy metering systems, building control systems and utilities management with a deep focus on the Energy Star certification program. This program provides invaluable opportunities to grow in the field of engineering, enhance technical proficiency and foster a comprehensive understanding of the commercial real estate industry.
