Sustainability
As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and EPA ENERGY STAR®, Highwoods Properties is
committed to reducing the consumption of valuable natural resources in all of our operations. We
are focused on developing and operating more energy-efficient buildings throughout our portfolio
and, when warranted, applying for LEED and ENERGY STAR® certifications. A few examples of
recent energy-saving improvements include lighting upgrades (more energy-efficient bulbs and
ballasts), selective use of motion-detected lighting, and installing variable-speed HVAC drives.
